Thesis Requirement - Current Project
In 2007, CIDD started a project on requirements for Bachelor and Master theses. The project’s goal is to develop a joint catalogue of requirements in order to facilitate thesis writing and thesis assessment within double degree programmes. The results of the projects were presented at the CIDD annual meeting in Arnhem and are currently discussed in the member universities. For more information, contact: ulrich.schuele@wiwi.fh-mainz.de

Teaching Methods in International Business Education
A newly formed CIDD research group explores issues in teaching international business programmes. Topics discussed are “Teaching a Culturally Diverse Student Body in English as a Foreign Language”, “Cross-Cultural Teaching”, “Assessing Students from Different Cultures”. First results may be presented in 2009.
Teacher Mobility - Faculty Exchange within the CIDD Network
A CIDD task force investigates opportunities to increase mobility of teaching staff between CIDD member schools. First results may be published in summer 2009.
Research Project: Do 'Double Degree Programmes' improve career opportunities?
Based on interviews with alumni of CIDD member schools, the research team investigates the impact of double degree programmes on graduates’ career opportunities. First results may be published in summer 2009

May 2009: International Student Conference in Mainz (Germany)
Hosted by FH Mainz - University of Applied Sciences: Fourth CIDD/Mainz International Student Conference on “Cross Cultural Management”. In this conference, students from Europe and the United States jointly discuss issues in inter-cultural communication and cross-cultural management.

June, 11th, 2009: CIDD Training Work Shop (non-members are welcome)
Training session on “Joint and Double Degree Agreements - Curriculum Development, Credit Transfer and Quality Control”. The full-day training aims at improving the know-how of programme directors and international offices of Business Schools concerning joint curriculum development and double degree arrangements within the European Higher Education Area (EHEA). In addition, the challenges of inter-continental degree programmes are discussed and benchmarks presented. The training seminar will take place at the HaagaHelia University of Applied Sciences in Helsinki, on June 11th, 2009. Participants of the training work shop are also invited to register as guests for the CIDD Annual Meeting hosted by HaagaHelia on June 12th.
In a small group of 10 to 20, participants learn about the typical issues arising in joint programmes with double degrees. The target group are programme leaders and international relations officers of business schools with no or first experience with double degrees. The interactive approach gives also room for sharing the participants’ own experience. The seminar has been developed for CIDD members, but is also open for participants from non-CIDD schools.

CIDD Beijing Summer School at UIBE
June 25th - June 28th, 2009: International Student Conference: "Discover China"
The CIDD member University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) in Beijing will organize the 2009 CIDD International Student Conference. Within three days, students from all over the world and Chinese students will jointly work on aspects of doing business in China. The three-day-intensive, CIDD-sponsored, programme is designed as opening event for the CIDD Beijing Summer Programme at UIBE starting on June 29th, 2009.

June 12th - June 13th, 2009: CIDD Annual Meeting (Assembly) in Helsinki
The next CIDD annual meeting (assembly) will be hosted by HaagaHelia University of Applied Sciences.
Through education, research and development, HAAGA-HELIA prepares professionals for business and services. Students are offered “a versatile choice of studies, great opportunities for specialisation, high-quality education in Finnish, Swedish and English, and wide business networks even during the studies. Approximately 10 000 students and 600 employees at HAAGA-HELIA base
their activities on highly advanced national and international expertise. The fields of education are business, hotel, restaurant and tourism management, information technology, journalism, management assistant training, sports management and vocational teacher education.
The meeting will include a presentation of AACSB, given by Henry Lowenstein, dean of the Wall College of Business Administration at Coastal Carolina University. He is one of the 20 deans on the AACSB Pre-Accreditation Committee who reviews and rules on every new applicant to AACSB.

July 12th - August 1, 2009: CIDD Summer School in South Carolina
Coastal Carolina University opens its 2009 summer school on “Doing Business in the United States” to a maximum of 30 students from CIDD member schools.
The summer programme focuses on the legal environment of doing in business in the United States, issues of marketing, corporate finance, HRM, and corporate governance. The course is designed to meet the needs of advanced undergraduate students from business programmes outside of the United States. Students from CIDD member schools wishing to participate: please contact your International Office.
